Art & Design
We recognise that a creative and high-quality Art curriculum contributes to the development of the whole child (emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively). It provides all children with the opportunity to express themselves imaginatively, celebrating our diversity and developing their understanding of, and response to, the world around them.
At The Vale Academy, children are given opportunities to develop their knowledge of art by researching artists of different cultures and backgrounds. They then develop their artistic talent by inventing and creating their own varied works of art using a range of materials. Children are given opportunities to develop their artistic skills in key areas such as; drawing, textiles, sculpture, painting, printmaking and collage. These areas are developed continuously throughout the school from Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 4. We develop critical thinking, making links with art to other areas of the curriculum and the contribution it makes on culture and the world around us.
We are very excited to embark on our Artsmark journey, where children will develop a more detailed appreciation of art and celebration of culture.
